Apple Releases Iphone 12 Details

Oliver Klipsch, Writer

Apple has officially released its latest iPhone – the iPhone 12. Beginning sales in less than a month, the phone has many new features. Let’s take a look at two versions of the phone – the Pro and the Pro Max.

5G

The Pro and Pro Max versions of the phone both support 5G, making downloads faster, video streaming quality better, and increasing resolution for FaceTime.

New Chip

Their new chip, the A14 Bionic is, Apple claims, “faster and more efficient than ever”. This could mean that the phone could provide “console-quality gaming experiences” and  “powerful computational photography”, while still keeping a good battery life.

Design

The phones feature surgical-grade stainless steel, which is stainless steel with more corrosion resistance and capability, and a ceramic shield front cover which is “tougher than any smartphone glass”, and is claimed to increase drop performance by 4x compared to the previous generation of iPhones,.

Cameras

Night mode has been improved, and the Pro models offer, “the highest quality video in a smartphone.”

Extra Features

Magsafe has been added to the phone, which is a feature that makes wireless charging easier. Basically, it is a precise array of magnets in the phone which allow for a better wireless charging experience. It is, however, worth noting that android has had this capability for over 5 years.

Software

IOS 14 is the software of choice for these models. This software allows you to customize your home screen in ways that you previously couldn’t. Other interesting features of this software include new ways to use different apps, such as a Maps feature that allows you to find greener ways to navigate cities, and enhanced privacy features.

Order Date

Pre-orders for iPhone 12 Pro begin Friday, October 16, with availability beginning Friday, October 23. iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order Friday, November 6, and in stores beginning Friday, November 13.

Note: I derived this information from an Apple press release. Since this phone is not yet in the hands of the people, not all this information has been tested by our experience. So, healthy skepticism is required.
