Central Football Breaks Losing Streak

Jacob Snider, Sports Editor

Our Davenport Central football team went to Burlington on Saturday, Sep. 28. It wasn’t necessarily a pretty game. They stumped themselves and so did the referees in the first half. Making it to the Redzone once, which turned into a blocked field goal. They made it once more in the first half, but it was called back on a penalty and the refs jumped from 1st down, straight to 3rd, ending the drive in a two and out. Burlington outscored Central, 7-0 in the first half. Starting with a big second half kick return from Kick Returner #37, Brian Morris, the momentum was changed. Central’s running back trio, #4 Sam Strang, #34 Bryan “Bud” Mitchell and #6 Jadon Leach. Strang and “Bud” got a touchdown each. Quarterback #5 Michael Moran, threw a quick wide open touchdown to tight end #40 Doniel Griener. Davenport Central outlasted Burlington 21-14.
