Students from various CHS groups and organizations enjoyed an after-school outing to Downtown Davenport Motor Row on April 24th. These students are participants in the Community/Mentoring Incentive Program sponsored by the district’s Mentoring & Engagement Specialist, Frank Klipsch.
The purpose of the program is to provide students with the opportunity to explore and experience first-hand what community partners have to offer, make connections for future endeavors, and dine at local businesses. In order to participate, students must maintain good attendance, behavior, and grades.
On the field trip, students visited different businesses and met with the owners. The first stop was Lopiez Pizza owned by Andrew Lopez (2003 CHS grad), and on to Envied Vintage Clothing owned by Darien Collins (2016 CHS grad.). Other stops along the way were Mama Bosso, The Raccoon Motel, Trashcan Annie/Ragged Records, and The Last Picture House, where participants ate Lopiez pizza on the rooftop overlooking the Arsenal Bridge and Bechtel Park.
