Prom week started off with an aud in the PAC, announcing the ten candidates who were elected for prom court. Along with that, the following week, the Davenport Central Senior Class Officers planned a week of dress-up days leading up to the day of prom. Some of the days included meme days, color wars, celebrity day, etc. These dress-up days are not only just for juniors and seniors, but they are also for teachers, freshmen, and sophomores. Meme day was a fan favorite. “I dressed up as Adam Sandler for meme day because I thought it would have been fun and comfortable, and I got the idea from Mrs. Johnson,” explained junior Oliva Whitfield. Following this, Prom was held at The Golden Leaf Banquet Center, and the after-prom event was held at the TBK Entertainment Center. When you walked in, it lived up to its theme, “A Golden Night At Central!” Decorated with a red carpet, a balloon arch, and even a photo booth, it was a real-life red carpet event! “ I appreciate the decorations that they set up for us. I thought they fit the theme, and they were so cute!!” said junior Callie Durin. The night started with people inviting their friends to dance, which quickly filled the dance floor with people. “ I saw people getting thrown in the air, and I was so surprised,” explained junior Dorothy Jackson. At the end of the dance, they announced seniors Marcus Burton and Suly Mar Morales-Espinosa as Prom King and Queen. After all of the dancing, people went to continue the fun at the after-prom event. The TBK Entertainment Center had bowling, arcade games, and laser tag for Central students to play from 11:00 pm until 2:00 am. So, regardless of whether you went or not, prom was still an unforgettable night!
